The Good Shepherd Academy Sponsored Walk and Silly Fruit Share

We were all excited and raring to go for one of our main fund raising events of the year on Monday 6th October when the heavens opened and rained off our annual CAFOD sponsored walk. The weather didn’t improve much during the week but finally, on Friday 10th October the sun came out and we were able to put on our walking boots (or wellies after all the rain!) and raise money for such a worthwhile cause.

Our newly formed Chaplaincy team started the morning with a whole school assembly to explain to the school how important it was not to appreciate what we have and not waste things. They showed the children how CAFOD can help others around the world who are not as fortunate as we are.

The time was finally here and we walked around the school grounds in our House teams, with the older children supporting the younger ones, encouraging them to keep going.

After 5 laps of the grounds, we celebrated CAFOD’s call to take part in a ‘Silly Share’ this Harvest time by enjoying a healthy fruit salad. Every child donated some fruit in the colour of their house and these were chopped up and set out on huge platters on the playground. The children could then choose fruits of every colour to make their own colourful fruit salad – showing how much better we are when we work together to create something beautiful.

We raised an incredible £1818 for CAFOD and would like to thank all our incredible families for supporting this event.
